There are three new internal deadlines for federal grants electronically submitted to Grants.gov effective February 2007 in response to the new federal deadlines.
Six weeks prior to the grant deadline, the investigator must notify the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) of their intent to apply.
Ten working days prior to the deadline, the investigator and Sponsored Projects Officer (SPO) must submit the components of the application to the OSR Manager for review and feedback:
Five working days prior to deadline, a complete application in final form is due to OSR, including scientific narrative, biosketches and abstract.
New internal deadlines are effective for all electronically submitted grants through Grants.gov.
Applications in response to Requests for Applications (RFA's) and Program Announcements (PA's, PAR's, PAS's) with special receipt dates continue to be due on the specified dates listed in the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).
For applications to be considered on time, they must be received by Grants.gov no later than 5:00 p.m. local time for the applicant institution.
The proposed dates provide additional time for proposal development for application mechanisms often used by new investigators — R03's, R21's, and K's.
