The Center for Neuroscience will support research in epilepsy, developmental neurobiology, cognition, and neurometabolic diseases in children (such as mitochondrial disorders). The center will investigate the normal function of the developing nervous system as well as the processes that underlie neurological disorders in children.
Researchers in multiple divisions, including neurology, neurological surgery, genetics and development, neonatology and psychiatry will work together and collaborate with the neuroscience community at the University of Washington to answer basic questions that will lead to new discoveries.
Dr. Sidney Gospe has assumed interim leadership for the center during a national search that is underway for the new center director.
