Membership Requirements and Benefits
All center members are required to demonstrate a clear and substantial commitment to their center by regularly participating in its scholarly activities.
Primary Privileges
Membership with Primary Level Privileges requires:
- Active extramurally funded grants/contracts within last 12-month period.
- A majority of all extramurally funded projects credited to the center in which he/she is a member.
- Acceptance of academic or administrative service to the Primary Center (i.e., committees, task forces, etc).
Primary Level Privileges come with the following benefits:
- Eligibility for space assignment in the Primary Center (based on availability and the discretion of the center director).
- Eligibility for Primary Center internal funding mechanisms, including bridge funding, gift funds, etc.
- Access at special rates to Core Services operated by Primary Center.
- Access to administrative support provided by the Primary Center.
- Access to Institute-sponsored educational seminars and written and electronic communications.
Affiliate Privileges
If you have NO extramurally funded projects credited to the center then you will receive Affiliate Level Privileges.
Membership with Affiliate Level Privileges requires:
- Affiliate Level Privileges requires a demonstration of a clear and substantial commitment to the center by regularly participating in its scholarly activities.
Affiliate Level Privileges come with the following benefits:
- Access to Research Institute rates to Core Services operated by the Affiliate Center.
- Access to Institute-sponsored educational seminars and written and electronic communications.
- Other benefits as determined by the individual centers.
Adjunct Level Privileges
Memberships with Adjunct Level Privileges will not be determined at this time. Memberships with Adjunct Level Privileges will be determined after the open enrollment period closes on January 18, 2008, and will require the approval of all involved center directors.
Membership with Adjunct Level Privileges requires:
- Membership in a center with Primary Level Privileges
- Active extramurally funded grants/contracts within last 12-month period.
- A minority of all extramurally funded projects credited to the center in which he/she is a member with Adjunct Level Privileges.
Membership with Adjunct Level Privileges comes with the following benefits:
- Access at Adjunct rates to Core Services operated by Adjunct Center.
- Access to Institute-sponsored educational seminars and written and electronic communications.
- Other benefits as determined by the center director.
In addition to the membership benefits outlined above, individual centers may have center-specific benefits. The centers will be defining these benefits with the input of the membership, so determination of membership must occur before the full definition of benefits.
